We are happy to share that the consecration ceremony is scheduled for March 11, 2012 (Sri Kara varusham, Masi 28) , as a culmination of spirited efforts of devotees spread over last 18 months after the balalayam ceremony held in November, 2010. The yagasala pujas would start from March 8th, 2012 - with yagasala pujas spread over 4 kalams.

Devotees can take part in the proceedings and seek divine blessings - especially for those hailing from that village. Such renovation and consecrations, happening in villages even though run in tight budgets and require support from devotees. It is estimated that one kalam puja would require about Rs 30000 and devotees can volunteer for the same.

Task ahead - Temple renovation and Kaveri deeparadhanai

Dear fellow devotees,
Those who have visited shrines like Kasi, Haridwar, Rishikesh etc., would have witnessed the daily Ganga Arathi ritual with awe and devotion. This ritual reinforces our faith in worship of rivers - not just for material flourish they provide us, but for the spiritual soothing they bless us with - in terms of washing away the sins & cleasing of the minds of the faithful. While rivers around India - small and big are revered, the seven rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswathi, Narmada, Sindu & Kaveri are held in utmost reverence. Of this Kaveri is considered as Dakshina Ganga and a dip in Kaveri during the Thula month ( ஐப்பசி) is considered extremely sacred.

Given this background, we are looking at holding a Kaveri deeparadhanai daily at dusk the Kaveri Mandapam - part of the Kasi Visawanthar temple at the riverfront. This would be complete with workship to Sri Kasi Viswanatha swami, Devi Kaveri, Veda Parayanam, Thirumurai Parayanam, Go Puja and Annadhanam.


In the current context, such actions of nature worship, we hope will provide for regular flow in the holy river, raise the awareness in the minds of public about need to fight pollution in the river and most importantly reinforce the sanctity and divinity of Kaveri.

There is a Kaveri Mandapam at the river front & a shrine for the devi, which need renovation.



Apart from the specific Kaveri deeparadhanai plans, the temple renovation activities need support for building of Swami, Ambal & Chandikeswarar shrines, temple central madapam amongst others.

பாலாலயம் ceremony was well organised by Shree Thiruvadikudil Swamigal on 4th November, 2010 ( ஐப்பசி 18, விக்ருதி) and around 300 devotees took part from Kumbakonam

While on this subject I would like to share a few words about His Holiness.

ஆங்கிலப்புத்தாண்டை முன்னிட்டுப் பல ஆலயங்கள் நள்ளிரவில் திறக்கப் படுகின்றன. பக்தர்கள் கூட்டம் அலை மோதுகிறது. நமக்கும் ஆங்கிலப் புத்தாண்டுக்கும் என்ன சம்பந்தம் என்பது வேறு விஷயம். ஆண்டு முழுவதும் நல்லதாகவே நடைபெறவேண்டும் என்று அவரவர்கள் பிரார்த்திக்கிறார்கள். இதற்காகவாவது வருகிறார்களே என்று நினைக்க வேண்டியிருக்கிறது. புதிய ஆண்டில் நாம் என்ன செய்ய இருக்கிறோம் என்று தீர்மானிப்பவர்கள் சிலரே. அதிலும் இறை பணிக்காக என்ன செய்ய இருக்கிறோம் என நினைப்பவர்கள் மிக மிகச் சிலரே. அதைவிட, ஆண்டு முழுவதும் இதே சிந்தனையோடும் செயல் பாட்டோடும் வாழ்ந்து கொண்டிருப்பவர்கள் அருமையிலும் அருமை. அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒருவரை அறிமுகம் செய்து வைப்பதில் பெருமகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறேன்.







நான் குறிப்பிடும் இவர் , பூஜைகள் நடைபெறாத சிவாலயங்களைக் கண்டு மனம் வருந்துவதோடு, அங்கு பூஜைகள் எப்படியாவது துவங்கவேண்டும் என்று செயல் படுபவர். மக்களுக்கு மகேசனின் பெருமைகளை அறிய வைப்பவர். மரம், செடி, கொடிகள் மண்டிக் கிடக்கும் ஆலயங்களில் உழவாரத் தொண்டு செய்பவர். இத்தகைய கோயில்களின் அவல நிலையைத் திருமடங்களின் பார்வைக்குக் கொண்டு வருபவர். இளம் வயதினராகிய இவர் திருநெல்வேலிச் சீமையைச் சேர்ந்தவர் என்று அறிகிறேன். தற்போது கும்பகோணத்தில் வசிக்கும் இவர் , காவி அணிந்த கோலத்துடன் எளிமையாகக் காணப் படுகிறார். ஜோதிமலை சுவாமிகள் என்று அன்பர்களால் அழைக்கப்படும் இவர், சிவாலயத் தொண்டு செய்யாத நாட்களே இல்லை எனலாம்.


He has been involved in renovation of Sri Chidambareswarar koil at Vadapakka Agraharam. The Nitya poojas are taking place over there and in other 25 temples under his supervision.

Dakshina Ganga - Kaveri, all along her course showered the people with prosperity & bounty, not just in the material sense but also in the spiritual sense. It is visible in full glory where she spreads her benevolent arms far and wide - in the Keveri delta. The Chola desam, no wonder is home to towering temples - many of them having been visited by Nayanmars and Alwars singing couplets in His praise. This is where major Saivite adheenams like Thiruvavaduthurai, Thirupanandal, Dharumapuram are located. Sangita mummurthis spent their life on her banks & the south indian bhajana sampradayam had its genesis here. In its banks, lived for generations after generations, people who have mastered the Vedas and led a dharmic life.

Of these temples that are spread around, some have not been in good upkeep and need renovation and Kumbhabishekam - to reclaim their place as the hub of village worship. One such temple is the Sri Kasi Viswanathar temple located in Melakaveri Village close to Kumbakonam. One might have heard this village name, because of its presence in the surname of a fairly popular percussionist.

The balalayam ceremony took place on 4th Nov. 2010 for the commencement of the renovation activities. Incidentally this event took place during the Thula month when Kaveri snanam is considered very holy.

We request all devotees to come forward and actively take part in this holy endeavour. It can be in form of Cash, kind, efforts or prayer. By each of our small efforts, we reach out to our roots - to those villages and towns where our civilisation grew and flourished - in places close to nature.
